COFFEE PRODUCING REGIONS
Paraná
The coffee culture was implanted in 1930 and, today, the state ranks fourth in Brazilian production. Paraná is responsible for 2.25% of coffee cultivation in the country. In addition to the northern region of the state, there are productions in the center and west of Paraná. Even with the decline after the frost cycle of the 1960s and 1970s, coffee is still an important agricultural product in these two regions, being the one that most generates income in the agricultural activity of the municipality of Apucarana. Other important cities in the region are Londrina and Maringá. Only arabica is grown in dense plantations, which use varieties suited to the region's colder climate.
