On June 27th, the Federal Institute of Southern Minas Gerais hosted the second edition of Coffee Conect XP, an event that brought together producers, experts, and coffee enthusiasts to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the industry. Focused particularly on specialty coffees, the event provided a renewed perspective on the importance of meeting consumer demands and optimizing available resources.

General Impressions and Highlights

This year’s edition emphasized the need for producers to adapt their practices to meet consumer expectations. The central message was clear: the specialty coffee market does not require significant financial investments but rather the training of the team and the efficient use of resources. This focus on education and the optimal use of available inputs was a highlight for many attendees.

Among the main highlights was the growing demand for 17/18 type coffees and the concerning scarcity of international stocks. This scenario presents both challenges and opportunities for Brazilian producers who can capitalize on the high external demand for high-quality products.

Keynotes and Trends

One of the most notable moments of the event was Ricardo Schneider’s lecture, directly addressing the obstacles that producers and exporters face in the current market. Schneider discussed logistical and regulatory barriers, offering valuable insights on overcoming these challenges.

Another significant presentation was by Professor Flavio Borem, who introduced a groundbreaking innovation: the possibility of harvesting green coffees without compromising quality. Coffees from five different regions, harvested green, were presented, showing no astringency and, in some cases, featuring characteristics of specialty coffees. This technique can revolutionize harvesting, allowing producers to increase the average quality of their production without waiting for complete maturation and avoiding the fall of ripe cherries.

Discussions and Audience Participation

The event also featured deep and enlightening debates on various topics, from post-harvest processes to the new European regulations that will come into effect in 2027. Audience participation was notable, with a large presence of producers interested not only in improving production but also in better understanding how to sell and increase the quality of their products.

The organization of the event was praised by all participants. Held at the IFSUL de Minas headquarters, the event featured ample space, divided between lectures and cupping sessions. Despite the lack of exhibition stands, the structure allowed for a rich and productive exchange of information.

Benefits for EllerS Coffee

Participating in Coffee Conect XP can bring several benefits to EllerS Coffee. The company had the opportunity to update itself on the latest trends and innovations in the industry, better understand market demands, and make valuable contacts. The information and contacts obtained during the event are crucial for positioning EllerS Coffee as a reference in the specialty coffee market, helping the company to adapt its production and sales strategies to better meet its customers' needs.

In summary, Coffee Conect XP 2024 reaffirmed the importance of innovation and sustainability in the coffee sector, offering participants a broad view of future trends and challenges. For EllerS Coffee, the experience was enriching and promises to positively influence its operations and market strategies in the coming years.
