Data from the Brazil Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) reveals a decline in the volume of unroasted coffee exported during the first ten business days of February 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year. The average daily shipments reached 10,072 tons, representing an 11.6% decrease compared to the February 2024 average. However, despite the drop in exported volume, total revenue from unroasted coffee exports reached $595.701 million during this period, demonstrating a significant increase in the price per ton. This growth reflects the appreciation of the product in the international market, driven by factors such as a lower global supply and high demand for quality coffee.
In the roasted coffee, extracts, essences, and concentrates segment, the numbers indicate a different trend. Total revenue for the first ten business days of February 2025 was $46.461 million, and the daily average revenue saw a sharp increase of 43.9% compared to February 2024. However, the shipped volume showed only a slight daily average growth of 1.2%, suggesting that the revenue increase is directly linked to the product’s appreciation in the international market. In fact, the average negotiated price rose by 42.1%, reinforcing the trend of higher prices in the sector.
These figures highlight a market dynamic where the reduction in unroasted coffee supply, combined with price appreciation, has impacted the product’s foreign trade. While export volumes have declined, the significant increase in the average trading price has offset the drop, ensuring strong revenue for the sector. The appreciation of coffee-derived products also signals a heated global market, benefiting the export of higher value-added items. If this trend continues, Brazil could further expand its presence in the international market, focusing not only on exporting coffee beans but also on processed coffee products that offer greater profitability.
